The new Paga wallet is finally here! Our goal at Paga is to solve two problems — make it easy for people to pay and get paid, and deliver financial services to the mass market. We are focused on solving these problems for all consumers — banked or unbanked, and businesses. You can use Paga to send money to anyone, transfer to any bank instantly, pay for goods or services. You use the Paga wallet through www.mypaga.com, *242# (on all networks), our android application, or our nationwide network of agents.

Over the next few weeks, we will be unveiling several groundbreaking features of the Paga wallet. Today, I’d like to share with you the convenience Paga brings to banked Nigerians in 3 key ways:

1. For banked consumers, the Paga wallet is a companion to your bank account.

To achieve this, we went through the painstaking process of becoming PCI DSS Level 1 certified. For all the non-techie folks, that certification means that all card and bank data saved on Paga is secured to the highest level of global security.

Rather than expose your bank/card details to websites — use your Paga wallet.

2. You can now save your bank cards — local and international — on Paga! You can also link your bank accounts (some banks can be debited real time, but all can be credited real time)

Now when performing transactions on Paga you can choose how you’d like to fund the transaction — cash in your wallet, linked bank account, or saved card! This means you no longer need to pre-fund your Paga wallet to use Paga. You can also add a new bank or card at the point of transaction.

For consumers using multiple banks, this is no doubt welcome news — you now have one place to use all your accounts directly. For those who have international cards or who live abroad and want to transact by card in Nigeria this is also brilliant — you can now use your international card in Nigeria!

3. Lastly, when you link your bank account to Paga you get free withdrawals from Paga to that account.

This means that you can feel very comfortable leaving your cash in Paga knowing you can move it to your bank account anytime you want for free and instant value into your bank account.

Note, you can also send money from any bank into your Paga wallet instantly using your Paga NUBAN number. From your bank account select “transfer to other banks instant” and pick Paga from the list of banks, use your Paga NUBAN as the account number.

There are a few more interesting changes coming soon, so watch this space. In the meantime, give the new wallet a go!
