Execution Rules the World

For any objective you are trying to achieve the journey to success will be determined by the discipline of your execution. I tend to think of it like the heart beat. The heart beats in a rhythm. That rhythm, which you ordinarily don’t notice, is critical to your success as a human being. Similarly in life and business objectives you need a rhythm to help you focus and attain success.

At Paga we use Objectives and Key Results to drive our execution cadence and review progress on a weekly basis. We have annual company wide OKRs and quarterly team OKRs. We have done this now for 5 quarters and it’s been brilliant for us!

For my objective to run my first marathon I have a training program and I review my progress weekly. My strength trainer also sets targets and records how I perform in each session so we can compare. This is vital — key results have to be measureable.

Today I had to repeat a routine I attempted on my first training just 2 weeks ago. When I attempted it then I could only do 4/8 sets! It was brutal. Today I did 8/8! 💪🏾💪🏾

Octopussy™ level 1. 8 exercises. 8 repetitions each. 8 sets. PFT: pushing for time. Time for today’s LD( longevity drill)- 34:09.96

The results here are me getting stronger. The objective is crushing the marathon on race day. Along the way I’ll continue to measure progress of key results that will lead to achieving the objective. It’s all about my execution of the plan. Execution rules the world!!

P.S credits: I had initially titled this post “execution cadence” but before posting I was at a conference panel with Ifeoma Uddoh and she said “Execution rules the world” — I thought it was spot on so I changed my title.
