Over the past few months the Paga team has been partnering with the Khan Foundation to help rebuild two schools in Makoko, a floating village in the heart of Lagos. Our team decided on this project because we truly believe that charity begins at home — Makoko is located 5 mins from Paga’s headquarters. Later today we are taking 50 of the kids out to an amusement park.

It’s a real privilege for us to partner on this project. Our ethos at Paga is “making life possible” — and while we know our services do that for millions daily, and that is very humbling, we also want to play an active role in the communities we work. I’m particularly proud that we chose this project as improving education is the number one issue Nigeria needs to address.

A big shout out to Tega who runs the Khan Foundation. It hasn’t been an easy journey and there is still so much work to do.

Makoko is one of the worst conditions I’ve ever witnessed people living in…Below is a picture of the school on the water and the rendition of what is planned to be built:

Can’t wait to see this happen!! The kids were so happy to see us and take some pictures.

The second school is on land in Makoko:

Well done Tega and the Khan Foundation team! We are looking forward to playing an active role and I pray the outcomes are significant and impactful for the Makoko community!
